Healthy Eating at BCCS
At BCCS, we understand the importance of providing nutritious meals to our students to fuel their busy days of learning and activities. That's why we offer a range of healthy eating options to ensure all pupils have access to balanced and nourishing meals throughout the day.
Free Breakfast for All Pupils
To kickstart their day, we provide free breakfast for all students starting from 8am onwards in the Creswell Canteen. This ensures that every student has the opportunity to fuel up before embarking on their fast-paced day of learning. All students are welcome to enjoy a nutritious breakfast at no cost.
Encouraging Hydration
We prioritise hydration at BCCS and have various water points located throughout the school. We strongly encourage students to bring their own sustainable, refillable water bottles to stay hydrated throughout the day. Fizzy drinks are not permitted in classrooms to promote healthier beverage choices and a cleaner learning environment in case of spillages. Please note that we do not allow energy drinks at BCCS.
A Range of Food Outlets
Our cashless system allows students to purchase a variety of hot and cold food items from both the Cresswell Canteen and the Kiosk. We ask that students eating a main meal do so in the Cresswell Canteen though smaller grab-and-go options are also available. There is plenty of space to enjoy packed lunches also, both inside and outside. Additionally, our Sixth Form Cafe offers fresh options and a selection of hot and cold drinks. Students in Sixth Form also have the convenience of using debit cards to pay for their meals, providing them with flexibility and ease of access.
Dietary Considerations
We are committed to catering to the dietary needs of all our students. As a nut-free school there are no nuts or not oils used in any of our food preparation, we prioritise the safety of students with allergies. We also offer vegetarian, vegan, and Halal options to ensure that all dietary preferences and restrictions are accommodated.
At BCCS, we believe that promoting healthy eating habits contributes to the overall well-being and success of our students. By providing nutritious meal options and fostering a supportive environment, we aim to empower our students to make positive choices for their health and future
We offer free school meals to students from household that earn under £14,000* this is to help ensure as many students as possible have access to a healthy, balanced diet regardless of personal circumstances. If you are struggling to feed your family we can offer some assistance in the way of hardship funds and food bank tokens.
