Faith and Cultural Diversity
Bristol Cathedral Choir School: a Church School for the whole of our city
"A Christian school is one in which the atmosphere has that kind of openness about it, that sense that people are worth spending time with, that people need time to grow, need loving attention."
Archbishop Rowan Williams, 2009
This quotation sums up what ‘Christian’ faith at Bristol Cathedral Choir School is all about, and it infuses every aspect of our life as a community, whether in our pastoral support of students, our academic endeavours, or our involvement in Music, Sport, Drama, clubs and societies. We strive to extend this openness and attention beyond our own walls in ensuring students are aware of, and reflecting on, the issues of our own city, country and the wider world we live in, and encouraging them to make a difference.
Our assemblies and services reflect the school’s heritage and Christian ethos, and will ask students to reflect on what they think about issues, what they think is of value, and what they think is of importance. We encourage students to think about how they live their lives, how they treat others and how they treat the world we live in. We are a diverse school with students coming from a variety of cultural and religious back grounds – all are made to feel welcome in our community, and we strive to celebrate our diversity in as many ways as we can.
