The Embark Award UWE

BCCS works in partnership with UWE to offer the Embark Award While you’re still at school or college, it can be difficult to see the bigger picture, where you can get to or how far you can really go. This is where Embark really comes into its own.

A valuable addition to your CV, achieving an Embark award has the benefit of giving you focus and direction, helping you to grow your skills and discover new ones. Together this provides invaluable experience and employability skills to help you now and in the future.

Embark will help you to:

  • Develop and understand how you can grow your skills
  • Identify the skills you have that employers want
  • Learn how to work as a team member
  • Develop good communication, problem solving and self-management skills
  • Prepare for the world of work
  • Explore career options
  • Enhance your CV
  • Gain 12 UWE Bristol UCAS points
  • Build your confidence
  • Demonstrate to employers that you have gone further and done more to stand out from the crowd

In 2017-2018 we expect a large number of our students to do this award as a way of drawing together all that you do outside the classroom, whether volunteering, work experience or personal interests, helping you to get ready to apply to University or the world of work. "Choosing to do the Embark award has been a really useful experience for me, as it provides a platform for all that you have done in the 2 years of 6th form. It's an easy tool to organise yourself and I am sure it will be my first reference point when I start writing my personal statement! It has developed my insight into the working world ,along with critical skills!" Jyothis Mankottil Binoy
