The well-being of our pupils is extremely important to us. Pastoral care within the School is largely handled by form tutors in the first instance and then by: Heads of Section; by the Assistant Principal (Student and Family Support) and ultimately by the Principal. The Lower School, Middle School and Sixth Form each have a Head of Section. The Choristers have their own specific Chorister tutor.
Our teaching staff are very experienced at helping young people, and pupils are encouraged to discuss their concerns with tutors. In addition, we encourage parents to get in touch if they think something is troubling their son or daughter, however trivial it may seem: we view the partnership between home and School as integral to a child’s happy and successful education at BCCS. There are a number of trained counsellors on the teaching staff.
Members of Year 13 are expected to set an example to the School. Each Lower School form has two Form Prefects who assist the tutor and help new pupils settle into their new routine. There is also a very successful Peer Support group run by senior pupils after appropriate training. The prefects undertake regular duties and have a wide range of involvement in the life of the School.
All those who work for the School, including the Governors and any volunteers who have substantial unsupervised access to children, are checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) in accordance with national guidelines.
BCCS is committed to ensuring that our students remain safe online. Click here for further information from the South West Grid for Learning Trust.
